STAY SAFE AROUND ANIMALS

Staying safe around animals means being careful with unfamiliar or unfriendly animals.
Most animals are friendly. And most domestic animals are harmless.
But each year in the U.S., domestic animals:

BITE about 4 million people
BITE about 2 million children
SERIOUSLY INJURE thousands of people
KILL about 17 people
Most biting incidents involve dogs. Many of the incidents involve family pets biting and injuring, or even
killing, family members who knew their “pets”. However, any kind of animal is potentially dangerous.
