STAY SAFE AROUND ANIMALS

1.) WHY SHOULD I LEARN TO "STAY SAFE"?

4.) PROTECT YOURSELF
If you feel threatened by an animal:
o Remain quiet.
o Move slowly, not quickly.
o Avoid jumpy movements or actions.
o Face the animal. Don’t turn around with your back to the animal.
o Don’t run away from the animal.
o Try to put something between you and the animal to shield yourself. A bag, a clipboard, briefcase, package, or a bench, chair, table or other large object.
o Don't shout or yell or make other loud or threatening noises.
o Don’t make any threatening gestures.
o Look just over an animal's head. Don't look directly into it’s eyes.
o Back up slowly out of the animal’s area. Be sure you continue to face the animal.
