STAY SAFE AROUND ANIMALS

1.) WHY SHOULD I LEARN TO "STAY SAFE"?
2.) WHO COULD BE ATTACKED BY AN ANIMAL?
3.) WHY DO ANIMALS ATTACK?
Animals may attack if they are:
o Trained to attack for protection purposes
o Protecting puppies or kittens
o Protecting what they feel is “their” territory
o Protecting children they feel are “theirs”
o Threatened by someone coming too close
o In pain, injured or ill
o Surprised or Frightened
o Bothered while eating
o Awoken while sleeping
o Frustrated (from being restrained ie. leashed, chained, tied up)
o Teased whether intentionally or unintentionally
o Excited, nervous or "playing"
o Bred to be vicious, for protection or fighting
An animal may also attack for no reason obvious to a human observer.
