Animals may attack if they are: o Trained to attack for protection purposes o Protecting puppies or kittens o Protecting what they feel is their territory o Protecting children they feel are theirs o Threatened by someone coming too close o In pain, injured or ill o Surprised or Frightened o Bothered while eating o Awoken while sleeping o Frustrated (from being restrained ie. leashed, chained, tied up) o Teased whether intentionally or unintentionally o Excited, nervous or "playing" o Bred to be vicious, for protection or fighting
An animal may also attack for no reason obvious to a human observer.
